hip·po·ther·a·py    Pronunciation:  /ˌhi-pə-ˈther-ə-pē/ Function: n
: physical therapy in which a patient (as one affected with cerebral palsy or multiple sclerosis) sits or lies on the back of a horse for the therapeutic effect of the horse's movement

Bullseye

Picture
Bullseye is a sweetheart. His coloring is Buckskin, much like our Buttercup. His dominant movement is anterior/posterior and he helps a lot with core strengthening.  He loves hay and very small cuts of carrot sticks.

Woody

Picture
Woody is the youngest horse we have and the newest addition to the Buckaroo Barn herd!  His dominant movement is lateral and helps with one sided weaknesses.  His favorite treat is Neigh Nibblers from Tractor Supply. He is descended from Peppy San Badger, who is actually quite famous!

Buttercup

Picture
Buttercup is one tough cookie.  He's a mover and a shaker and provides a lot of rotational movement.  He is a buttermilk buckskin and he loves apples and carrots, but only takes small bites.

Ranger

Picture
Ranger is the shortest of the Buckaroo horses and he provides a lot of movement to loosen those tight muscles.  He looks a lot like Red, but he's much smaller.  He doesn't like many treats, but we recently discovered he likes watermelon!

Big Tiny

Picture
Big Tiny is the Buckaroo Barn mascot.  His tiny legs don't allow the right movement for hippotherapy, but our riders love to pet him and give him treats after therapy.  His favorite treats are apples.

Red

Picture
Red is our tallest horse.  He drinks lots of water and works very hard for our little Buckaroos.  He likes to aggravate the other horses from time to time.  His favorite snacks are apples and carrots.

IN MEMORIAM: Traveler

Picture
On June 4, 2020 the Buckaroo Barn lost one of its greatest assets. Traveler went to the big pasture in the sky and earned his wings after 28 years of service on this Earth. In the rodeo ring, he was the fiercest competitor. At the Buckaroo Barn, he was the gentlest and most reliable therapy horse who carried many children on their journey to strength and wellness. And in life he was the most loving and wise companion anyone could ask for. When he galloped the earth shook and if you knew him, he definitely left his hoof prints on your heart. He is and will always be greatly missed.

Job 39:19-22
Do you give the horse its strength or clothe its neck with a flowing mane?
Do you make it leap like a locust, striking terror with its proud snorting? It paws fiercely, rejoicing in its strength, and charges into the fray. It laughs at fear, afraid of nothing;
